6 Music Festivals in Austin Texas

Austin is certainly a music-capital of the country, featuring a variety of annual festivals for nearly every kind of music lover out there.

Austin City Limits

What began as a small local event has grown to take over the entirety of Zilker Park once every year. The festival takes place in October over two consecutive weekends and features more than 140 bands on eight separate stages, along with a number of art installations and hearty Texan food. ACL’s past lineups have included the likes of the Killers, Jay Z and Bonobo.

South by Southwest

South by Southwest is a unique Austin event, blending music with other forms of media including music videos. The festival is a place for people of nearly every artistic industry to come together for networking and collaboration. The festival takes place annually over one week in March and includes award ceremonies, showcases, parties and advance-screenings.

Urban Music Festival

Urban Music Festival is dedicated to jazz, funk and R&B; featuring local and national artists like. The festival has become a household name over the last fifteen years, and takes place over two days each March. The event is held in Auditorium Shores, at Town Lake Metropolitan Park.

Old Settler’s Music Festival

This event is dedicated to the genres Austin is famous for: roots rock, blues and bluegrass. Founded in 1988, Old Settler’s music festival is held every April and includes many other attractions beyond music, such as arts and crafts, camping and food.

Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic

The 4th of July is always a huge event in Austin. This festival is held every Independence Day in Zilker Park and spans an entire day with cookouts, music and fun.

UTOPiAfest Down in the Oaks

UTOPiAfest Down in the Oaks began as a small, informal event on a local farm. It now features a wine garden, craft bear selections and an array of local foods to sample.
