Uchi
If you’re looking for a Japanese restaurant to try out while in Austin, Uchi is an excellent option. Opened in 2003, it was quickly met with ciritcal acclaim. This is no doubt in part due to the work of chef Tyson Cole, whose ingredients are flown directly from Japan to maintain top-notch authenticity.
Some of the most beloved menu items include Machi Cure (smoked yellowtail, yucca crisp, marcona almond, Asian pear) and the Zero Sen roll (yellowtail, avocado, cilantro, shallot, tobiko, yuzu). Uchi also features a sake happy hour.

Odd Duck
Odd Duck is a traditional Texas restaurant in terms of both food and style. The restaurant’s ambience is upscale enough for a business lunch, but cozy enough for a warm, friendly dinner. The traditional Texan-style menu changes seasonally, based on what’s available from local farms and dairy producers.
The menu includes pork and quail corndogs with carrot-masa hot sauce, grilled antelope with grains, sunchokes, and mushrooms, and chicken fried fish head with fishbone caramel sauce.
