Austin in October

Austin is lovely year-round, but fall is the time when the heat wanes and dozens of different events spring to life. This October in particular will be packed with events for every kind of tourist and local alike.

Banger’s Oktoberfest

Banger’s is a local sausage house and a restaurant dedicated to local cuisine and fine beers. The venue is organizing an October event dedicated to its brewery work, with a live music show featuring local country and bluegrass bands.

Hey Sugar!

Hey Sugar! is Austin’s premiere dessert fest. The event will be held at Peached Social House on October 29th, from 11AM to 4PM. Sweets will be offered from a variety of local shops and bakeries, many items at special discount prices.

New Central Library

Austin’s newest library will be opening on October 28th, with a kickoff event lasting from 10AM to 6PM. The event will feature live music and smaller events tailored to children. Opening ceremonies will begin at 11AM, featuring the official ribbon cutting. The library is located at 710 W. Cesar Chavez St.

Hocus Pocus at the Community Cinema

Community Cinema is an open air cinema with free admissions. The venue is part of the “Community First!” organization, and will be screening the film “Hocus Pocus” on October 13th. Feel free to bring your own blankets and snacks for this spooky night at the movies.

 

Free Shakespeare at the Market

Shakespeare at the Market is a free, annual event organized by a local theater company. This year will be its fourth iteration, featuring a performance of Romeo and Juliet. The event will be held in the Whole Foods located downtown, with performances scheduled from October 13th to the 29th.

Spirits of Mexico

This festival dedicated to Mexican  heritage will be held on October 19th from 7-10PM, located in the Fair Market. It’s a great chance to sample Mexican food, drinks and music.
