Described as “Your eccentric uncle’s attic on steroids,” Uncommon Objects was established in 1991 by owner Steve Winman, along with business partner Ed Gage. The business expanded over time, from a small shop housing a mere five dealers to a large complex showcasing 25 antique vendors and their wares.

The shop is host to a monthly event known as The Uncommon Flea, held on the last Sunday of each month from 10 AM to 3 PM. The store’s backyard is transformed into a bustling marketplace for not only antiques but local crafts and goods.

Magic Caravan

Magic Caravan is Austin’s premiere Turkish boutique, specializing in new and antique items such as home furnishings, clothing and handmade rugs. The shop was established in 2015 and is the North American offshoot of famed Istanbul vendor Arsah Carpets.

Owner and collector Huseyin Sahin offers a wide variety of goods showcasing the rich culture for which Turkey is known. The shop’s inventory is entirely authentic, offering handmade items that reflect both ancient and modern Turkish traditions.

Room Service Vintage 

Room Service Vintage specializes in a rotating array of vintage furniture, décor, jewellery and more dating from the 1950s through the 1970s. A self-prescribed “vintage wonderland”, Room Service Vintage covers 3,500 square feet and offers everything from home furnishings to clothing, toys and records.

The shop is housed in a historic cinderblock building that was once home to a pharmacy and soda fountain circa the 1950s. Established in 1981, Room Service has remained a cornerstone of Austin’s North Loop Strip: considered by many to be the city’s last major stronghold of small, local-owned businesses.

Treasure City Thrift 

Treasure City Thrift bills itself as the most affordable thrift store in Austin, organized under the principle of “solidarity, not charity”. The shop strives to sell items at lower prices than other comparable shops, making their wares available to shoppers from all walks of life. 

Treasure City Thrift 

Treasure City operates under a zero-waste policy, recycling as much as possible while educating the public about sustainable practices and providing a community space for historically marginalized communities. Items for sale include secondhand books, clothing, appliances and collectables. All sales help benefit Austin’s local charities.
