Austin’s Most Scenic Spots

The sheer beauty of Austin is one simple reason to visit time and time again. You’ll always find something new to admire. Read on to discover six visually stunning Austin attractions you won’t want to miss.

Waller Creek Tunnel

This marvel of modern engineering may have a practical purpose, but its striking industrial appearance carries something almost melancholy about it.

The Greenbelt

‘Greenbelt’ is the term aptly used for the nearly 800 acres of land at Barton Creek: a patch of nature nestled right in the urban bustle of Austin’s heart. The reserve features trails for hiking and cycling, as well as several lakes perfect for a summer swim. It’s the perfect spot for a weekend of relaxation after a hard week’s work.

Texas State Capitol

This state capitol building is the largest in the country. Visitors will adore the neo-classical architecture and the rich history of the site. Take a guided tour to learn some additional tidbits, or simply explore on your own.

The Turtle Pond

A calm, relaxing site located on the campus of the University of Austin, this pond is a favorite among local students. It’s the perfect local spot to de-stress or hang out with friends.

The UMLAUF Sculpture Garden

Located in Zilker Park, this complex features both indoor and outdoor sculptures for the public to enjoy. The outdoor installations are permanent, while the indoor works rotate with new pieces added frequently. The studio was donated to Austin in the late 80’s by couple Charles and Angeline Umlauf.

Barton Springs

This natural spring stays right around a comfortable 68 degrees, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a short swim with a side of sunbathing. The scenic views of the area make for the perfect Instagram photo as well.
