The Frost Bank Tower

One of Austin’s most iconic structures, Frost Bank Tower stands 515 feet tall with 33 floors. It is the third-tallest building in Austin and was designed by Duda/Paine Architects; primarily constructed out of blue low-e glass skin. It is one of only two buildings in the world to be made from this material. The tower is topped with a decorative crown that changes colors to mark special occasions and national holidays.

Austin Convention Center

Admired for its size and technical construction, this enormous 881,400 square-foot building is located in the heart of downtown Austin. The center features a huge, multi-level atrium as well as five separate exhibit halls, 54 meeting rooms and two ballrooms. The venue hosts a wide range of events and meetings for all industries, in addition to annual festivals and concerts.

Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library

LBJ was a son of the Lone Star State, and his library stands in Austin to commemorate his time serving in office. The library is a research center for those looking to learn more about Johnson’s presidency, but the building itself is also a simply amazing piece of architecture.  Built inn 1971 and remodeled in 2012, its monolithic stone structure was designed by Gordon Bunshaft. Its exhibits include a perfect replica of the Oval Office: one of the library’s most visited areas.

The Austonian

The Austonian is currently the tallest building in Austin. The structure serves as a luxury residential high-rise and is located in downtown Austin. Boasting a height of 683 feet with 56 floors, the building was designed by Ziegler Cooper architects, and was completed in 2010. The Austonian has received a four-star rating for its environmentally-friendly operation.

Austin City Hall

Austin City Hall is located in the middle of downtown, just across the Colorado River. Built atop a 19th century bordello, it now serves as the center of city government. The building was designed by Antoine Predock. An exhibit known as The People’s Gallery can be found within the Hall.

The Long Center of Performing Arts

The Long Center plays a notable role in local cultural life and is a picturesque sight to behold, with its circular ‘ring beam’, glass structure and paneled aluminum roof. The building was designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, and is an expansion of the Palmer Events Center. This multi-venue structure includes a theater, auditorium and a concert park, as well as the original Palmer Dome.
